co-occurrence mapping

co-occurrence mapping
Also called co-occurrence clustering. An automated method of compiling groups of terms that tend to occur together in certain contexts and are therefore presumed to be related in some way; the resulting groups of terms are considered to be loosely related and may be used to automatically broaden a user’s search or to suggest alternative search terms to users in order to improve search results.
