Planning and Budget

As part of Governor Cox's government efficiency bills, the name of the Governor's Office of Management and Budget was changed back to the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget (GOPB) in 2021. Governor Cox held a ceremonial signing on April 29, 2021.

GOMB strategically ensures that state government services are supported, highly coordinated, and funded with a focus on operational excellence. The agency provides a system to determine ways to optimize revenue, performance, and personnel to provide added value to public services.

Governor Gary R. Herbert announced a restructuring of the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget (GOPB) on August 21, 2012 as the new Governor's Office of Management and Budget (GOMB), naming Kristen Cox GOMB director. The restructuring will optimize systems, revenue and personnel through the entire system of state government . Legislation will be necessary during the 2013 General Session of the Legislature to officially create the GOMB. The restructure will be accomplished through a legislative bill, "Office of Planning and Budget Restructuring Amendments", to be sponsored in the 2013 General Session by Senator Jerry Stevenson and Representative Brad Wilson.

GOMB officially started using the Governor's Office of Management and Budget on their November 2012 publications.
