U.S. federal executive branch

U.S. federal executive branch
The executive branch of the government is responsible for enforcing the laws of the land. The president is the head of the executive branch of the government, which includes the office of the president, vice president, executive department heads (cabinet members) and agencies; independent agencies; government corporations; executive department boards, commissions, and committees; and quasi-official agencies.

Note: Decided 10/1013 to drop (in most cases except State Department) the word "department" from the agency name. Darci will change these in the taxonomy concurrent with updating the agency metadata in the digital library.
