The STEM Action Center was created in 2013 with the passage of HB139, 2013 General Session. The STEM Action Center was originally overseen by the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED).
In July 2019 the STEM Action Center was moved to the Department of Heritage and Arts, now Cultural and Community Engagement (2021).
