The nominating committee solicits nominees statewide and then submits them to the Governor who makes the final decision regarding appointments to the Wildlife Board. The committee itself consists of 11 members appointed by the Governor. They are to be nominated by: the agriculture industry (3), sportsmen groups (3), non-consumptive wildlife interests (2), federal land management agencies (1), one local official nominated by the Utah Association of Counties (1), one range management specialist from a list of at least two nominees submitted jointly by the Utah Chapter, Society of Range Management and the Utah Chapter Wildlife Society (1).
Each of the five wildlife regions (Northern, Southern, Central, Southeastern, and Northeastern) shall be represented by at least one member but no more than three members. The governor shall appoint each member to a four-year term, staggering so that approximately half of the board is appointed every two years and members from the same wildlife region serve staggered terms.
